Sonata K. 311 (complete)
Notes:
Sonata K. 311 was written in Mannheim around 1777. The first movement bristles with tricks typical of the Mannheim style. The buoyant mood of this piece is softened in the middle movement, which retains a refined dance-like character punctuated by sets of three staccato chords. A good-humoured rondo complete with operatic cadenza, shows how Mozart exploited the idiom of theatre music in his instumental compositions.
