Notes:
The de Visée musette is a rondeau, alternating variations and theme, which must have been very popular. It occurs in no less than four different versions; in tablature for guitar, theorbo, lute and a scored version for ensemble. The lute and score versions have a coda in the parallel minor. We have taken the cue from Couperin and added an expanded continuo contreparthie, played on the harpsichord. |
